Kathleen Fleming, Lego Production Exec, Dies at 39

Kathleen Fleming, director of entertainment development at Lego, died April 27 in an accident in Cancun, Mexico. She was 39.

Fleming joined Lego in 2009 as a senior manager of entertaiment development, where she worked on “Lego Star Wars: The Padawan Menace” and “Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out,” which she exec produced. She also worked on the “Ninjago: Master of Spinjitzu” TV series and the “Lego Legends of Chima” series and “Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles.” Most recently, she was working on Warner Bros. “The Lego Movie: The Piece of Resistance,” serving as liaison and managing studio relationships on entertainment projects.

Fleming’s close friend Jodi Cararas said she would be remembered for her humor and intelligence, “She experienced and accomplished so many incredible things, from traveling the globe to completing a half marathon to her numerous work credits. She lived fully and fearlessly.”

Raised in Atlanta, she graduated from Emory U., and worked in advertising at firms including TBWA Chiat Day, Deutsch and Saatchi & Saatchi prior to joining Lego.
