In preparation for their inaugural season, Vázquez signed with Major League Soccer expansion team Atlanta United in December 2016.

Tata Martino, the club’s manager during Vázquez’s first two seasons, used him as a winger rather than in his natural position as the striker in the front of the line.

Nashville SC picked Vázquez in the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft on November 19, 2019. Then, for $150,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, he was transferred to FC Cincinnati.
Vázquez, who had previously mostly played as a substitute, finally had significant playing time under new manager Pat Noonan in 2022. For the first time in his career, Vázquez started the season as the undisputed starter.

After attacking-midfielder teammate Luciano Acosta had already been chosen for the 2022 meeting versus Liga MX All-Stars, Vázquez became the second FC Cincinnati player to ever be selected for an MLS All-Star lineup.
